ADULT DROP-IN CLASSES
Beginner/Intermediate Flamenco with live accompaniment: Students typically practice one palo per session, such as tangos, rumbas or bulerias, culminating in a final phrase and an in-studio showing. There are additional outside performance opportunities throughout the year for interested students!
Absolute beginner tap: a mix of music concepts and basic technique, including intro to straight time, swing time, time steps, breaks, phrases.
Slow/fast beginner tap: practicing fundamental technique, increasing technical vocabulary and building speed; applying fundamental technique and concepts to across the floor work and center phrases.
Slow/fast intermediate tap: more complex technique and phrasing, across the floor work, center phrase, improvisational listening exercises, typically in the jazz tap tradition.
Fast advanced tap: complex weight shifting, increasing tempos, specificity in footwork, a focus on individual clarity and improvisation.
Philly Hoofin': This class focuses on a style of dynamic, close-to-the-ground, a cappella tap that is unique to Philadelphia and was made most popular by the late LaVaughn Robinson.
