Living Philly Tap History: Steve Condos

  • Sound Space Performing Arts 2511 West Girard Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19130 (map)

The Philadelphia Community Tap Project is excited to present a tap dance and music workshop that delve deep into the technique and teachings of Philadelphia tap dance legend, Steve Condos.

Heather Cornell helped to define tap history in NYC and abroad, originally with her company, Manhattan Tap, in the 1980's & 1990's. This workshop will focus on the lessons and choreography she learned from Steve Condos, while she worked privately and performed with him on stage.

Heather has a unique way to pass on oral history, one that allows you to experience first hand what it was like to work with this generation of artists. There are so many lessons inherent in the music and dance, and because Heather learned from this generation directly, those lessons are unique to her. Come and deepen your understanding of this oral tradition with someone who is a direct link to the dancers and the work that defines it.

As an EXTRA special treat, our accompanist is the internationally-recognized saxophonist, Tim Price, who played for Steve Condos at club gigs at the 1980s.

$25/advance, $30/door. Workshop will be capped at 30 people.
